Fatma Tema Shanan

We need to spend time in nature to reconnect with ourselves

Fatma was born and raised in Julis, a Druze village in Israel, and lives in Tel Aviv. She focuses on figurative painting, mostly using the technique of oil on canvas. Theatrical and enigmatic views of pre-staged scenes characterize her works. Fatma's art strives to deconstruct firm definitions concerning the art of painting as well as gender, national and ethnic identities. She exhibited at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris, Dittrich & Schlechtriem Gallery in Berlin, and the Contemporary Art Museum of Villa Croce in Italy, among many others.
