Issue Nº 1 Spring & Summer 2024

The Hard Places Issue

Behind every piece of art, every song, film or expression of creativity is a story. Whatever an artist’s intentions from the start, the process of creation comes with unexpected challenges.

In our first issue, we spoke to 18 artists about their ‘hard places’: The most challenging moments in their artistic career and how they dealt with them. The practical advice and genuine insights shared explore themes such as how to deal with rejection, the fear of failure, criticism, loneliness, creative blocks, and making life work financially.

The Art of Seeing believes art doesn’t have to happen in isolation, but in collaboration. We want to make it that bit easier by talking about our experiences and lessons learned. Our simple message? You are not alone. Don’t lose heart. Just keep going, trust the process, and reach out to others. It will all pay off eventually.
